I contacted Damai after several weeks of not knowing where to begin with my separation. Sunita was very calm about everything — she explained what the process would look like and what to expect at each stage. The fees were made clear early, which I appreciated. It took a few months to work through, but I never felt lost or rushed.

Rajan handled our children's arrangements matter with a great deal of patience. My situation was complicated — my ex-wife and I had very different views about access arrangements — but he managed to help us reach an agreement without going to court. The fact that it stayed out of court was important to me. It took about three months all in.

I used the mediation service after a dispute with my former partner about maintenance. It was not an easy set of conversations but Amirah made sure things stayed civil throughout. We reached a written agreement by the third session. I had hoped it might go a little faster, but I think the pace was probably right given how difficult the subject matter was.

What I valued most was the written summary I received after each meeting. It meant I could refer back to what was agreed and what the next step was, without having to rely on memory at a time when I had a lot on my mind. Sunita was thorough and kind throughout, and the process felt manageable even when it was difficult.

Rajan was straightforward and helpful throughout the children's matter. He was honest about what was realistic to expect and did not give me false reassurances. The maintenance arrangement we reached has been working well for the past four months. I found the office easy to reach on public transport, which mattered as I do not drive.

I chose mediation partly because I could not face a contentious court process. The two pre-mediation sessions with Amirah helped me understand what to expect and settle my nerves a little. The joint sessions were more structured than I had imagined — there was a clear agenda and nobody was allowed to dominate. We finalised our agreement in the fourth session.

Case Study 01 · Separation Support
Managing a separation with property and young children involved
Challenge
The client was separating from their spouse of eleven years. The process involved shared property, joint finances, and two children under ten. The client was anxious about the legal complexity and unsure where to begin.
Approach
We began with an unhurried consultation to map the full picture. Documents were prepared in stages, and the client was kept informed at each point. We handled all correspondence with the other party's solicitor and flagged developments promptly.
Outcome
The separation was finalised within six months. Property matters were resolved without litigation. Children's arrangements were agreed separately through a brief mediation process. The client described the experience as far less overwhelming than expected.
Timeline: 6 months
Case Study 02 · Family Mediation
Resolving a longstanding dispute about access without going to court
Challenge
Two parents had been unable to agree on a workable access arrangement for over a year following their separation. Communication between them had broken down, and the situation was causing stress for all three of their children.
Approach
Separate pre-mediation sessions helped each party articulate their concerns and priorities before meeting together. Joint sessions were structured to focus on practical arrangements rather than past grievances, with the children's schedules and needs kept central.
Outcome
A written access agreement was reached after four sessions over five weeks. Both parents reported that the children's routines had stabilised within two months of implementation. Neither party required court involvement.
Timeline: 5 weeks · 4 sessions
Case Study 03 · Children's Arrangements
Establishing maintenance arrangements across two households
Challenge
A parent sought help formalising child maintenance following a separation where no financial arrangement had been agreed. The other party was initially unwilling to engage. There was concern about the sustainability of the arrangement long-term.
Approach
We calculated appropriate maintenance based on the children's needs and both parties' financial circumstances, and drafted a formal proposal. After correspondence, the other party agreed to negotiate, and a revised arrangement was reached without a court application.
Outcome
A maintenance schedule was formalised and is being met consistently. The arrangement includes a review clause that allows it to be revisited as the children's circumstances change. Court proceedings were avoided throughout.
Timeline: 8 weeks
